CONSERVATION EDUCATION
Wise use of natural resources enhances economic viability and quality of life for all residents of Ontario County.

Envirothon is a competition for high school students. Areas of examination are soils, aquatics, forestry, wildlife and a current issue that changes annually. Winning teams at the county level compete at state contests.

The 2008 Western Finger Lakes Regional Envirothon will be held at Finger Lakes Community College on April 24. Study materials can be found online at http://www.nysenvirothon.org.

Conservation Field Days for 6th grade-age children in Ontario County was held at 4-H Camp Bristol Hills on September 18 and 19, 2007. Over 1200 children from nine schools enjoyed a series of educational stations staffed by 44 knowledgeable volunteers. See photographs of Conservation Field Days here.
