The Agricultural Environmental Management program assists farmers to maintain farming as a profitable and environmentally sound enterprise. Cost shares are available through state funded grants. Participation is voluntary and begins with completing the Tier 1 Survey. |

The purpose of the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Inspection program is to maintain Canandaigua Lake as a drinking water source. Five municipal water purveyors make up the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Commission which is authorized by the NYS Department of Health Law to enforce watershed rules and regulations. The SWCD administers the inspection program on behalf of the Watershed Commission. | |||

Municipalities within Ontario County contract with the SWCD through the Uniform Procedures Program to provide soil investigations and inspection of onsite wastewater treatment systems in portions of Ontario County that are outside of the Canandaigua Lake Watershed. | |||

SWCD assists municipalities, contractors and residents with soil erosion and sediment control measures associated with land development and construction projects. The SWCD provides site plan review and construction monitoring services to ensure compliance with DEC stormwater regulations. | |||

Conservation education programs are available to school groups, municipalities, civic groups, businesses and individuals. Annual events include Conservation Field Days for 6th graders and the Envirothon competition for high school students. | |||

The annual Tree and Shrub sale offers low-cost native species seedlings for home owners and farmers. Information and assistance in using trees for wind breaks and buffer strips is also available. | |||
